Looking for a fun activity with your little ones? My kids love cookie cakes and I love an option that includes fun for them and minimal clean up and ingredients for me. Now, I tend to be a “make it from scratch” kind of person but when it comes to something fun and quick with the kids, that’s not always a good match. About ten years ago I discovered that making a cookie cake from store-bought cookie dough is a huge hit with the crew and as simple as it can be. It tastes great and costs a fraction of the price of the fun ones we got at the mall for birthday parties when we were kids. Decorating it can be just as simple or you can get more elaborate. I guess that depends… is this a creative outlet for you or a mess you can live with the kids making… and eating!
Here’s how this goes…
You will need:
- A Giant Cookie Cake Pan. This one is what I have and by Wilton. I think you’ll like it too.
- A tub, couple tubes, or two packs of break-apart chocolate cookie dough
- Fun squeeze tubes of frosting and maybe some sprinkles
Keep the dough about an inch from the sides of the pan. Spread it evenly and then cook at 350 for 15-20 minutes. Let it cool for about 5 minutes before removing from pan. Make sure it’s totally cool before decorating and serving. Enjoy! The kids will love it! And you have virtually no dishes to do afterward. Way to go, Mom. You just won on multiple fronts!
